Do not fall into the net

Dicember 2008 - March 2010

Do not fall into the net is an intervention aimed at raising awareness of families about the risks inherent in a non-conscious use of the Internet by children, who could be exposed to child abuse and sexual exploitation. The project was implemented in six regions: Lombardia (Milano), Umbria (Perugia), Toscana (Siena), Abruzzo (Chieti) and Puglia (Foggia).

The project activity was highly innovative, not only in the creation of a portal (with the aim to drive and specify the procedures necessary for the safe use of the Internet), but also and especially because it acted in parallel with paper instruments and meetings in schools, in order to convey the necessary skills to use these tools, both to students and parents (or teachers), who often seem to have skills inferior to children. In the Breviary, in fact, was explained, step by step and with simple terminology, the basics of computer use, so that safety procedures can also be provided by users who are not familiar with the computer. Appears from the current studies, in fact, the existence of a strong gap between the skills of parents and the children. That gap makes very difficult both the understanding of the issue addressed by the project, and the possible activation of the protections for users who do not possess basic skills.

Nonni tecnologici

February 2008 - June 2009

The project was implemented in five regions: Lazio (Viterbo), Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Muggia, TS), Abruzzo (Pescara), Campania (Squille, Ce) and Lombardia (Milano). In liaison and collaboration with our local environment, the plan has seen the creation of Square events.

The events organized, from time to time, with senior centers, schools and local authorities, have had a basic organized program, with traditions and local specifity put, from time to time, on the center of attention.

The purpose of the project (as well as to create moments of interaction between different generations, promote cultural exchange, make our seniors feel integral part of the social structure) has been to preserve and pass on historical memory, that our seniors are guardians of, and, on the other hand, to make the modern technology a service for the elderly. In order to do that, we dedicated to technological innovation a stand where young people have shown and explained to the elderly the use and functionality of what the telephone and the Internet offer today.

At the end of the "square" activities, was made a publication collecting the most significant anecdotes and stories, grandmother’s "remedies" and typical recipes. A trip down memory lane, which ended with pages of photographs withdrawing the elderly protagonist of the book.

Each day saw the installation in a central square and easy to reach ten stands, as it stands technological, devoted to "jobs", sport and health traditions (and local) and others.
