During the Island Film Festival – the celebration held in Rome Tiber Island – in the day dedicated to Argentine cinema, during which the films Los Paranoicos directed by Gabriel Medina and Hermanas by Julia Solomof, Modavi no-profit held a meeting dedicated to the promotion of the argentine culture, collecting funds to build a sporting club in the Modavi community center in Bahia Blanca.

In the Modavi community center a library was set up to give the opportunity to read to children living in situation of severe social unrest. The project involves the figure of a librarian who has attended a recognized course of three years at the regional level, after which it will manage the library and the volunteers already present in the structure giving the possibility of further growth to the team, having also the opportunity to forward its profession.

Modavi has built a community center where it guarantees freed meals and recreational activities for disadvantaged children who live in Villa Bordeu, suburb of Bahia Blanca, city at about 600 km from the capital of Argentina. We want to avoid that these young people live in the street, we want instead educate them and encourage them to continue their studies and create a future different from that one offered by the street.

In the community center focus recreational and educational activiets to involve children and adolescents. The organization of training courses are the tools to inform and raise awareness and help the growth of many young people in Villa Bordeu.

The main activity is education: it is expected to set up a small “school shop” where young people learn the ancient craft of the artisan, language courses will be organized.
